Description

Designed in 1935 by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld, the Utrecht chair remains one of the most recognisable icons of modernist furniture design. Defined by its sculptural geometry, angled backrest and distinctive oversized armrests, the design reflects the principles of the De Stijl movement while offering exceptional comfort.

This pair was produced by Cassina in Italy during the 1980s, renowned for its faithful craftsmanship and licensed production of twentieth-century design classics. The chairs retain their original upholstery in a warm natural linen-toned fabric.

Structurally, both chairs are in excellent condition, with firm construction and solid frames throughout. The upholstery shows signs of age and use consistent with their vintage character and can be enjoyed as is or reupholstered to suit a contemporary interior.

Condition

Excellent structural condition. The frames are sound and stable. Original upholstery displays visible signs of wear and age but remains usable. The chairs can be professionally reupholstered if desired.
