A rare set of four PJ-SI-25-A Dining Chairs by Pierre Jeanneret, designed for the government and educational buildings of Chandigarh, the modernist city conceived by Le Corbusier.

Produced circa 1958–1959 as part of the original Chandigarh furniture program, these chairs were commissioned for public institutions and universities — conceived not as decorative pieces, but as enduring, functional architecture in furniture form.
Crafted from solid teak with hand-woven cane, each chair features Jeanneret’s signature asymmetrical compass-leg construction. The angular V-shaped side supports are joined by stretchers for structural integrity, while the gently slanted caned backrest provides both comfort and visual lightness. The proportions are restrained, the lines precise — utility refined through craft.
The teak has developed a deep, natural patina, carrying the quiet marks of time and use. This set originates from Punjab University (Sector 14, Chandigarh) and retains original inventory markings, confirming the chairs remained together within the same institutional setting.
