The raw and timeless simplicity of Pierre Jeanneret’s design ethos for his Chandigarh Project have made his furniture icons of midcentury-modern design.

Not much is known about Jeanneret's Rare Chair, as the name suggests, as only a limited number of pieces are known to have been produced. While some were attributed to a private residence in Neuilly, France, others were made locally, for Chandigarh.

The primitive aesthetic of the chair is a not departure from Jeanneret functionalist designs, rather it remains in the same spirit of timeless simplicity.
