Pierre Jeanneret, a mid century icon
The V-leg chair that inspired a world of interiors
Back then Jeanneret's furniture was an extension of his architecture, and filled local administrative buildings, universities and court houses.
Today they are cultural trophies and true design icons, with the original chairs highly coveted.
The original production is estimated to have been around 30,000 pieces, made by various carpenters and studios dotted around the region, making each piece the same, yet different. Due to the high number of craftsman and furniture makers involved, it was impossible to grant a design license to one maker.
Our chairs are hand-crafted in India by carpenters - not factories - according to the same principles and techniques as Chandigarh's Masterplan.
Not all chairs are created equal. See our selection of Pierre Jeanneret furniture here.
