Description
Associated with Jeanneret’s residential furniture repertoire in Chandigarh, the chair is distinguished by its compass-type double side-leg construction, joined by crosspieces that support the broad, projecting armrests. The gently inclined backrest and generous seat create a relaxed profile, while the solid sissoo frame gives the piece a strong architectural presence.
The use of Indian rosewood reflects the importance of local materials in Jeanneret’s Chandigarh furniture. Its robust construction and carefully considered proportions bring together practical function and a distinctive modernist sensibility.
